One hundred and twenty-five students and their families from the Bethpage Union Free School District’s Central Boulevard Elementary School attended Family Literacy Night on Nov. 30. The evening event served as a culmination to Central Boulevard’s Pick a Reading Partner Week which encouraged reading through literacy challenges and dress up days throughout the week. This year’s PARP theme was “Wild About Reading” which was emphasized during the fun-filled literacy night.
Students and their family members selected up to three sessions to attend during the event. From games to activities, each session promoted literacy skills and were led by Central Boulevard faculty and staff. Students and their families rotated to different classrooms and locations in the school building to engage in sessions such as Animal Idioms, Safari Scramble, Safari Word Hunt and Safari Wordle. At the end of the event, all attendees gathered in the school’s gymnasium to cozy up with a good book.
