Bethpage High School is proud to announce that senior Alyssa Zacchino has been selected to perform in Long Island High School for the Arts’ (LIHSA) annual “Broadway Supports LIHSA” event. This prestigious occasion brings together Broadway’s top talent to mentor LIHSA’s performing arts students, offering master classes during the day and culminating in a special evening performance, featuring both the Broadway performers and the LIHSA students.
Alyssa, who joined LIHSA last year, auditioned alongside her peers for a panel of Broadway professionals and was one of only thirty students chosen to perform in the highly anticipated opening number. The “Broadway Supports LIHSA” event will take place on Monday, Nov. 4, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the LIHSA campus in Syosset. It will feature a star-studded lineup of Tony Award winners, nominees, and Broadway performers, making it a unique opportunity for both students and attendees.
Alyssa’s journey in dance began when she was just nine years old. Today, she is skilled in various dance styles, including ballet, modern, hip-hop and jazz, though her passion lies in contemporary dance. In addition to her rigorous schedule at LIHSA, where she focuses on dance each afternoon, Alyssa trains at a competitive dance studio outside of school.
At LIHSA, her curriculum extends beyond dance technique. As part of the dance track, Alyssa takes courses in dance history, composition, and anatomy, along with vocal music classes to enhance her overall performance skills. This well-rounded education has helped shape her into a versatile dancer with a deep understanding of her craft.
As Alyssa prepares for the next stage of her journey, she is currently auditioning for college dance programs. Her future goals include pursuing choreography or a career in education, while also dancing with a contemporary dance company. With her talent, dedication, and passion, Alyssa is well on her way to making her mark in the dance world.
