Bethpage High School Honors the Life of Hannah Diamond with Memorial Tree Planting

In a touching tribute to the memory of Hannah Faith Diamond, a beloved ninth-grade student, Bethpage High School planted a pink magnolia tree outside the school yesterday. The small, heartfelt ceremony was attended by staff, students, and members of Hannah’s family, providing a moment of reflection and remembrance for a community deeply affected by her loss.

Beneath the newly planted tree lies an engraved stone, a lasting reminder of Hannah’s presence and the impact she had on those around her. In addition to this tribute, a second memorial stone will be laid at Charles Campagne Elementary School, where Hannah attended during her earlier years.

Hannah tragically passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2024, during surgery for ulcerative colitis, a rare and complex disease that affects fewer than 200,000 people in the United States each year. Her passing saddened the Bethpage community, where she was not only known as a kind and caring friend but also as an integral member of the Bethpage High School Stage Crew. Her contributions to the school’s productions left a lasting impression on her peers and teachers alike.

Hannah is survived by her loving parents and her twin brother, who joined the community in honoring her memory.
