Bethpage High School's Environmental Science class learned about the marine creatures that live in Oyster Bay. The trip was held aboard the "IDA MAE" an exact replica of the original Ida Mae built in Oyster Bay in 1905. Specimen's were collected using the bottom dredge along with plankton collected in a plankton tow.
Later the students used a seine net to collect a myriad of animals that live in the salt marsh. It was a fantastic day allowing students the opportunity to connect with their environment. Many of the specimen's collected are on display in the classroom saltwater tank.
